**My apologies to the classes (and especially absent students) for neglecting to update this blog. Mea culpa.

American Lit:

  • Tuesday: Students read and discuss the first four Dickinson poems listed in the book: "Because I could not Stop for Death," "Success of Counted Sweetest," "Much Madness is Divinest Sense," and "My Life Closed Twice Before It Closed." The last three poems will not be covered.
  • Wednesday: Students compared/contrasted Walt Whitman and Emily Dickenson, considering especially their form and style. Students also took a Vocab 7 Test and began Harriet Jacobs. The homework assigned was to finish reading "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" and complete questions 1-8 on page 558.
  • Thursday: Vocab Unit 8 was covered. Students continued working on the compare/contrast charts and reviewed questions 1-8 from pg. 558.
  • Friday: Students began reading Abraham Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" and "The Emancipation Proclamation." No homework.
 British Lit:
